Description

Lake Shore Drive, Chicago December, 2010. (Fuller Zoomed.) * * *
I promised to resume commenting, but never did. I apologize, as you've all been so kind to me, but there were matters with my father that took over (he's better), and attendant matters that usually follow. I hope I won't be gone long... I just wanted to thank you for being so kind to me whenever I'm absent, and to assure you I'll return the kindness soon. And btw, I mean it when I say I look: I really look at everything you all do, no matter where I am, and hopefully you'll know that when I return. In the meantime I hope you enjoy this little snapshot of 8 blocks from my home...My best wishes to you all, and hopes that January is treating you grandly wherever you are,
much peace, Mark

Oh, that lake is just glorious and the city glows. That could be a huge mirror; it's so clear and reflective. You show off your world so well, and this foto is simply stunning. I know it's COLD, but someday I would love to see it this way myself.

Glad to hear your father is better. This is a splendid photo and treatment. As with many of your city photos, you always include an expanse of nature to add a very appealing softness and contrast. Just love the reflection, the ice, and the steel blue tone throughout. Lovely. CC

You make this place look great! Although I know that I would wither within weeks if I had to live in such a city. So glad your father is better.

Lovely focus, lighting, dark/light contrasting, and shimmering effects in this splendiferous postworked photo, Mark! And thank you for the note updating your present situation; hope everything works out swimmingly for you and your father.

A wonderful capture here and it is lovely to have you drop in to say 'hello'. I love how the snow and ice give this image a great crispness and a lovely colouring. At this hour of the day it looks very peaceful too in spite of the fact that you are very close to the city. I am glad your father is on the mend.

So good to hear your father is better :) As for commenting.. this is an understanding community that knows real life always comes first. I know I do not get to the galleries near as often as I like. And I don't doubt that is the case for most. Don't sweat it :)

Calling this a "SNAP SHOT" is like Leonardo da Vinci saying he painted the Mona lisa in his dinner break. SUPER JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 11+

Beautiful! I love the limited palette, all blues and cyans. The colors, the reflections, the ice, all say COLD in such a clear, chilly way! Absolutely gorgeous work.

Stunning photograph - I love the soft focus, the colour palette and the icy path, which almost seems to be giving off a frosty fog off my monitor. This reminds me of my time in Labrador... but I don't envy you city dwellers having to de-ice motor vehicles and clear paths to the road... It was all so simple where we lived - boots crunching on snow, or the swish of skis when the snow got too deep. So glad to hear your dad is better. And you know not to worry about commenting - life comes first, always!
