Amaranda McQueen was a promising merchant before she got into magic. After that, she still might have been "just another spellcasting" guildsman. Unfortunately, one day she came upon a shipment of old books cleaned out of Old Calladon and decided to personally scan the merchandise before shipping it on to the customer. One of the books caught her eye and she started to read it and "BOOM", everything changed. Her once greedy, self-serving heart was overcome with greed and selfishness,... oh,... nevermind.

What she gained out of the book was a new direction to take her evil, necromancy. She also learned, quite by mistake, some of Shang's secrets, for the book was penned by Him personally in ages past. In it, he had hidden part of his consciousness, and it was that part that had seized Amaranda's soul. Beyond anyone's help, and not really looking for any help anyway, she traveled to Skullport to follow the clues that keep popping up in her dreams,... Shang's memories of building and operating Old Calladon. Once there, she started to use her newfound necromantic powers to start a new business, selling necromantic curses, undead controlling talismans, potions and other necrotic stuff,... and once in a great while, one of Shang's secrets or powerful artifacts. She's doing quite well, actually, and is now known as the Necromonger.
