Description

Bill mentioned a couple days ago that there was another vintage plane collection at the airfield near our house. "... found yet another hanger nearby with more airplanes to take pictures of...nice, shiny, historic ones." ... Bill (bmac62) "Found another hanger nearby." What do you do in America, plant aircraft parts and wait for another museum to pop up ? Well it looks like a good crop. I'll look forward to more of this! ... Neil (neiwil) So this is for Neil. The crop is coming in already! :) We finally went over there today with cameras and tripods and took a bunch of pictures. What fun! The planes are in pristine condition, and all airworthy. It was a good day! Oh ... this is part of a 1941 Waco biplane. (Pronounced WAH-co ... it was built in Ohio, not Texas.) It's my favorite plane in the place. We saw it flying last summer. Click HERE if you need to see the whole thing, and HERE if you want to read the amazing history of the plane.

What a lovely shade of green! I really do prefer the older planes from the days when you had to fly them yourself. Wonderful slice of this great old aircraft.

What a beautiful colour it is when it's freshly blooming :p It makes a great abstract, too!

You know, there's this part of me that will always refer, somehow to science fiction, and when I saw this...guess what? I referred, in my mind, to science fiction: in is case, the artwork of Jim Burns...the green, the organic curve, the overall vibe of this shot reminds me of a Jim Burns creation: something deliciously colorful and airbrushed like mad, full of the sorts of delicate details that made quite a few of David Brin's novels look so...well...David Brin-ish, back in the 80s. Having said that, I'll also say that I absolutely love this shot. You do plane parts so incredibly well...so perfectly and spot on gorgeous all of the time and this is certainly no exception. It's stunning. WOW!
