Description

I dedicate this posting to Rene and Ute, to sooth them for their loss. YOU HAVE A LOT OF FRIENDS HERE IN THIS TIME OF MOURNING. I also dedicate this image to all Aquarians here: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU ALL!!! Aquarius is the eleventh astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the constellation Aquarius. In astrology, Aquarius is considered a "masculine", positive (extrovert) sign. It is also considered an air sign and is one of four fixed signs. Aquarius has been traditionally ruled by the planet Saturn, and, since its discovery, Uranus has been considered a modern ruler of this sign. Aquarius has also been identified as the pourer of the waters that flooded the Earth in the ancient Greek version of the Great Flood myth. As such, the constellation Eridanus is sometimes identified as a river being poured by Aquarius. Ages are believed by some astrologers to affect mankind while other astrologers believe the ages correlate to the rise and fall of mighty civilizations and cultural tendencies. Aquarius traditionally 'rules' electricity, computers, flight, democracy, freedom, humanitarianism, idealists, modernization, astrology, nervous disorders, rebels and rebellion. Other keywords and ideas believed associated with Aquarius are nonconformity, philanthropy, veracity, perseverance, humanity and irresolution. The expression Age of Aquarius in popular culture usually refers to the heyday of the hippie and New Age movements in the 1960s and 1970s. Those born under this sign are generally very noble, honest, and kind-hearted, and are endowed with considerable natural discrimination. They are fair readers of character, and are not easily deceived by a pitiful tale. This mental and spiritual quickness makes them very apt in any study, any trade, or profession they may take up. An Aquarian gives importance to issues such as equality, fairness and freedom. An important characteristic of Aquarius is that they care deeply about their friends. This is one reason they have a wide social circle. I shot the image to use for the Aquarians in Rome at Piazza della Repubblica, a semi-circular square next to the Termini station. Its ancient name,Piazza Esedra, is still very common today, and originates in the large exedra of the baths of Diocletian which gives the square its shape. The fountain in this square shows sculptures of Naiads and Glaucus, a Greek sea-god, at the center. The fountain was built in the early 20th century. The naiad represented here is the Nymph of the Lakes, recognizable by the swan she holds. The Glaucus group symbolizes the dominion of the man over natural force. The god was believed that he commonly came to the rescue of sailors and fishermen in storms, having once been one himself. This has also a symbolic general meaning for people in distress. Thank you for your kind comments.
