Description

The Eiffel Tower (Tour Eiffel in French) is the most famous monument in Paris and is known worldwide as a symbol of the city itself and France. It was named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, who built the internal structure of the Statue of Liberty. Is visited on average each year over five and a half million tourists. In 2006 he was in ninth place among the most visited sites in France, and is the most visited paid monument in the world with 6,893,000 visitors in 2007 [1]. Its maintenance, from 1981 to 2005, was curated by Societe Nouvelle d'Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel (SNTE). From 2006 to 2015 it was entrusted to the Société d'exploitation de la Tour Eiffel (SETE). The property, with its 324 meters is the highest in Paris, was built in less than two years, from 1887 to 1889, was supposed to serve as an entry at the Universal Exhibition of 1889, a World's fair to celebrate the centenary of the French Revolution. Opened March 31, 1889, was officially opened on May 6 of that year after only two years, two months and five days of work. Three hundred metalworkers assemble the 18,038 pieces of forged iron, using half a million bolts (which were replaced during the construction itself, with red-hot rivets). Given the security situation existing at that time, it's surprising that only one worker has died during the construction of the tower (during the installation of lifts). The tower is 324 meters with its antenna (rooftop TV antennas are 20 meters high) and weighs 10,000 tons but its foundations derive just 15 feet below ground level. For 40 years it was the tallest structure in the world. For its maintenance are also 50 tons of paint every 7 years. Depending on the ambient temperature the height of the Eiffel Tower can vary by several inches because of the expansion of the metal (up to 15 cm higher during the summer heat). During windy on top of the tower oscillations can occur up to 12 cm. To climb to the top there are two possibilities: the 1665 steps or two lifts transparent. The structure is divided into three levels open to the public, reachable by elevator or by stairs. To the south-east of the tower stretches a grassy expanse that once sailed out of the first balloon flights. When it was built, there is some resistance from the public, because we thought it would be a rather loose structure aesthetically (is still little appreciated by some in Paris, they call it the 'iron asparagus "). Among other things, the Eiffel Tower in 1909 threatened to be demolished because it challenged the artistic and literary elite of the city was spared only because it proved an ideal platform for the transmitting antennas needed for the new science of telegraphy. However, it is generally considered one of the examples of architectural art in the most extraordinary and is indisputably one of the most representative symbol of Paris throughout the world and has been proposed for the seven wonders of the modern world. The monument has kept records of the world's tallest building until 1930, when it was completed the Chrysler Building in New York. At 3rd level Gustave Eiffel had created an apartment in which he received its famous guests, but now there are statues of the Eiffel with Thomas Edison and his daughter Claire during the meeting that took place during the World Fair of 1889 when Edison took a specimen phonograph. The mechanisms of the lifts are the original ones of 1889 and travel in the year, 100,000 km. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eiffel_Tower Good night and good weekend Thanks for the comments and the favourites of previous image
