Description

Humans are a stubborn and clever creature, in general. This is more often on overt display in the myriad assorted pieces often assembled into the stations that orbit various planets and moons visited by our kind. Seemingly anything that can be used, will be used wherever a people stop for a bit, either while passing through to another world, or preparing to drop into the gravity-well of some promising body. The actual name of this station is far less interesting, but I took to calling it "Jumble-Station" while my ship was approaching, it seemed to feature nearly every type of mass-produced component used to make these kinds of stations, and even though I didn't spend enough time to learn more about its inhabitants, the image of its odd assortment of pieces still defines much of how I see our species even now. -From "The Travels of Martin Leftwick, Wanderer and Observer" a popular post-war biography ------------- I decided to return to the idea of the hodge-podge of pieces that a modular station or ship allows, not necessarily a grimy or ragged piece of the human puzzle, but more the creativity and adaptability of our species in the face of adversity. As usual, the station is entirely my own creation, modeled in Bryce 6.5, most textures are my own, some are presets or modified presets. The planet is a somewhat re-used from my last post, but I did a slightly different treatment of it to give it a hopefully different overall look. This was done in Photoshop, as was the stars, compositing and other post working. Thanks for taking a look, and comments, critiques, questions, and suggestions are most definitely welcome! I hope you're all having a good weekend.

Wow - this give a whole new meaning to "Adapt, Improvise, Overcome." And indeed, if our species lasts long enough, I would expect to see structures like this scattered around the galaxy. Superb work as always, Mike! Your Bryce and Photoshop skills are top-notch all the way!

I would hate to be the one of the astronauts that had to put this station together. Your modeling work just keeps getting better with every post. I really like all the find details, which you are putting in to your models. The heat radiators, hatches, and observation cupolas that you have attached give this picture all the more realism that is required for an excellent presentation. Always enjoy seeing what you come up with next. All the best, David
