My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

I love the sound of these things...but then I have a particular weakness for Arabic music, North African music, and Armenian music, which shares a few odd similarities. As for the shot, I love it. The colors are so warm and rich and sensual...it's a feast for the eyes and I can virtually feel and smell the wood and stretched drum-skin. Nice. Quite exquisitely nice!

That is a beautiful drum and I can see why you were attracted to it. Thanks for the link on how it sounds.

Well, now, I'm just a little smarter than I was 15 seconds ago, so that's a good way to end the day! :-D Now, I'm going to bed. My brain is tired... LOL! Wonderful photo - lice lines and warm wood colors! Excellent, Tara!

Nice. You might remember that I posted some shots of African drummers than came to the school I work and played drums like this.

Snazzy. This positively glows and radiates rhythm. The video simply adds another whole dimension. Every picture should be both seen and heard! Er,...maybe not true for still life...lol.

Those have to be my favorite type of drum, but then I do have 3 of them myself. You have a very nice picture of this one, I really like how you captured the warm rich grain in the wood. Looks like the body is hand-made, too, so that's got to be a really nice drum!

Perfect lighting and your signature "softness" (I don't know how you do that!) gives it perfect atmosphere. Beautiful work!

I love doumbeks! I listen to arabic music quite a bit and the drumming is always fascinating, love the drum solos. They have such rich music in that part of the world. Fantastic photo! Delaney
