Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Fabulous image! The perspective alone is worth the shot, and the light makes it perfect. Gorgeous image!

WOW! In this one you can see how long the pier is. It goes on until it's way down there! I love the POV, because you got that vanishing perspective thing going, and then you've got a bit of the upper deck, if that's even what you'd call the top part. There's a person up there so you can see how big this thing really is! WOW. And then there's that sunlight. WOW! The more I look at these, the more they do remind me of something on another world. Oh but wait, Illinois and California are different worlds...sort of. California has stuff like this...Illinois has corn and soybeans. I like your world better. This is really gorgeous, and I love the way the reflections work in this one...there's a nice measure of complication going on that keeps the eye wandering from one cool bit of the photo to the next. I love it, and thank you, THANK YOU for the dedication.

Fantastic capture, Marilyn! it does look like it goes on forever

Stellar contrast and lighting effects! Marilyn goes where angels fear to tread. I never imagined that a pier and its pilings could look so ominous.

For some reason this makes me think of Thebes, Egypt... All those columns for sure. Neat POV.
