Description

The Emerald Pools Trail begins at the Zion Lodge westward over the footbridge to Lower Emerald Pool. The trail was built in 1932, using only hand tools. It is an easy hike with only a 423 feet (133 meters) increase in elevation. There are multiple pools as you hike up with the water cascading down from level to level. There is a lot of algae and moss that has built up in the pools and on the rocks and cliffs. This shot was taken from the highest point and this is the first waterfall in the chain of waterfalls working their way down the cliff. For perspective, zoom to see the hiker above the falls. Oh my, this is so beautiful. You got the right angle for this wonderful landscape image! It reminded me of a photograph I've seen from a coffee table book sent by my sister when I was still in the Philippines. Just love it!

Great clarity in this capture of the Emerald Pools, Dana, but I would think twice, maybe thrice, before hiking around that rough and ready area myself.
