Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Poignancy to the Nth degree, Maz. Superlative color, clarity, reflections and silhouetting in this dedication to Mark during his trying moment.

I saw this last night, but was not entirely lucid. Well, I was, but maybe in a non-lucid sort of way, if this makes any sort of sense. Anyway, I saw this last night and I've just looked at it again...there's so much in this shot. It's deceptive because it looks simple and straightforward, but it's quite rich, complex, and really full of interesting, fun stuff. I love the textures, and the way this looks a bit like either a painting, or even something of a collage--sort of. But the best part is that it's just so darn good. I really love the mood of this and the whole sense of softness this has. It has your trademark sense of brilliant, living color, but it's soft and comforting and really inviting. This is a superb dedication, and a marvelous image.

This image is so poignant because it is often so rare. My father was absent during much of my childhood, off working two jobs. But the times we spent together are very special memories for me. I hope Mark's dad pulls through and that he has memories like this to sustain him. Wonderful post work.

Thank you so much, Marilyn, and forgive my coming here so late. You know the reasons had nothing to do with you or your beautiful image, it was hard to even get online for a minute, the last few weeks. This touched me deeply when I saw it first, and it touches me as much now. Because the father & son are so together, because their reflection sings in the water soaked sand behind them, because it's more of your beloved ocean (which you capture so beautifully), and because you postworked the image to make it both shine and feel like a painting. And of course because the image is all about love, reflected & radiated through the world around. It's beautiful, and fitting for this time in my father's life. Thank you so much, you touched me very much, thank you so much for thinking of me, Marilyn. I'm just sorry i couldn't get here sooner...
