Description

Taken by my wife at the British Wildlife Centre, this is (obviously) one of the red squirrels that live there. The special photography days at the centre are excellent, and the animal keepers do everything they can to help you get a good shot.

Beautiful photo of this little one. So much detail, and that balancing pose. I'm surprised you could get so close, even if they're used to people. The nut is probablty what's keeping its attention. Cute little creature. Thanks for posting!

So that's clearly a political decision. Note, that only the RED squirrel must not be fed. The green, blue, tartaned, camouflaged and of course the black ones can.

Thanks to all for the comments! T. Rex - the animals at the British Wildlife Centre tend not to be afraid of people, but mostly ignore them. And as I said the keepers will do their best to get them near you. At one point a large otter mistook me for a keeper, and started to climb up my leg in search of food! And if the squirrels get impatient , they will also climb onto you. The special BWC photo days are not cheap, but I rate them as truly excellent. (Warning - the fo9xes will pee on anything you put down, a souvenir you might not want!) Nick

This is fantastic. Well seen! Perfectly presented. I got a really good laugh from this. It's quite refreshing to see. Squirrels...I wonder if they know how amusing they are. Probably so, since they get away with so much! This is brilliant.
