Description

As people liked the Vue version... :-) This shows the structure a lot better, and was done in Lightwave 3d. I tried to make it as accurate as possible, right down to the rivets in some areas. It's also rigged to turn and tip. The backdrop was done in Vue, which also provided a low res HDRI version for lighting. Made over about 6 months, based on loads of photos I took on a visit there.

Nick, your modeling is amazing as with all the work that I have seen that you have created. If any one here has not seen Nick's work, you should visit his website for some excellent modeling work and presentations. He is one of the best that I have ever come across when it comes to modeling in Lightwave. He has truly mastered this program and their are few if any here that are his equal. I look forward to seeing your next work my friend. All the best, David

This is superb. I thought it was a photograph, despite the fact that it isn't. THIS is one of the reasons why I love science fiction so much: that sense of reality (based on reality itself) derived from something wholly imagined (rendered)...this is brilliant, definitely true-to-life work, and it's an outstandingly beautiful thing to behold as well. Okay, I have a thing for radio telescopes as well, but this is fantastic all on its own.
