Description
The city of his enemies is in ruins and burning. But most of his companions are also dead, and the great wealth said to be had here could not be found. So now he heads home...alone...empty handed...and very weary of war.

It becomes harder and harder for me to find the time to compose and render images...sometimes I feel like that weary warrior! Superb craftsmanship show here. Firstly there is complete mastery of the fire haze lighting giving an overal mood. Then there is the perfect mount of rider on horse and the drape of the cape. And then those wounds which are each finely slashed onto his body. Overall the composition is extremely well done.

Ohhh..Marco, this is very, very well done. The textures just pop, especially the horse skin and the lighting is so good. It's a very vibrant yet gritty real piece. I'm watching Rome (HBO series) slowly and this could definitely fit right into that series! Great, great work!
