Description

The Temple of Sinawava is in the north end of Zion Canyon and near the entrance of the Narrows. It is a massive rock formation but only rises 418 feet (128 meters) above the canyon floor, at 4,000 feet (1219 meters) above sea level. Most of the canyon walls are similar to this view. Most of the major formations were named, by the Mormon pioneers, that settled in this canyon in the 1860s. A popular spot for rock climbers. Photo taken March 8, 1996 and scanned. That rock is so impressive and so stark. Naturally I'd love it! I like the fact that it's something right here in this world, but with just a little bit of a photo-tweak, it could be anywhere, on any world! That's always a hallmark of a good photo for me, one that's really frikkin' good to begin with, but it also lends itself to something else. Really great stuff. What an impressive formation too! The clarity is stunning.

I would give my left testicle (yes I said testical)to be standing there at this very moment knowing that just outside my door a Blizzard of historic proportions is raging....So far 11 inches on the ground with 40 mile an hour winds and the main storm isn't even here yet...that's later tonight when things will get really interesting....I had just had my roof raked off from the last snow event and well........keep me in your thoughts buddy!...gonna be an interesting next 24 hours...
