Description

I'm once again playing with a ship model I've previously posted, but I really like this one, and was toying around with it as a possible entry in the Exposé 9 call for entries. While I'm not satisfied enough with this (yet) to try submitting it, I figured I'd toss it here and see what you guys think could improve this. Feel free to let me have it, what would you do to improve this one? Ship modeled in Bryce 6, with some textures that I modified within Bryce for the hull. Background was made entirely with Adobe Photoshop, as was compositing and other post working. Thanks for taking a look, and in advance for your suggestions!

Great ship model and scene! My only suggestion would be a more dynamic camera angle/POV...perhaps a closer view of the nearer ship with some overlapping of ships to add depth...just my two cents!

I am a little bothered by these fins cut to half in their environments. comptenu the possible size of the vessels, these opening horizontal ... give these elements an aspect of opening boxes ... which is unlikely to where they are placed. I extend a little the body of the ship ... it would give a notion of speed. The advice of one who does not know, are always easy ... so these are just ideas sincere. I love your creativity!

A great scene here, as always. Two things I would do: delete the two torus that give a barrel-look to the ships. make sharper edges on the wings, cockpits and few other details. I think this would make the ships more aggressive.

Mike, your ship designs are so unique and frequently quite alien looking. These are incredible, and just so cool-looking! I like the slight forward sweep of the "wings" - I think it adds a bit of an aggresive look. I've always subscribed to the theory of making one's martial spaceships, aircraft, ships, whatever, LOOK as threatening and frightening as possible - just for the psycological effect it has on the other guys. In other words, if it LOOKS bad-a##, it probably is.... :-D

I really like these immensely. The design is a super one. It seems as if everything is in place, just as it should be. There's nothing that bothers me about this design, but I wonder what these puppies would look like without the rings. I like them where they are, but I'm curious as to how much more "streamlined" the ships might look either without them, or with them shaped a bit differently. It's obvious these are spacegoing vessels and so being streamlined isn't important, and yet if these are intended to intimidate an enemy, that streamlined, forward-muscular look would...well...intimidate! I love that element of it. I'm also curious about markings. Not everyone would paint or otherwise decorate their ships, but at the same time, I'm curious about what designs the builders of these puppies might have. I somehow think that lightning-bolts won't work, nor will flaming skulls, but you never know. Just a thought, but I'd say this stands quite well on its own. I like it!
