Description
Wasn't sure how I felt about the finished product, but I had great fun making it, so I decided to post it!
Ready for the rest of the story?
We kept our door unlocked until a con man ended up in the living room.
Before that, we kept our door locked until our wonderful neighbors almost broke-in to "help" me. (We are truly blest with our neighbors. They are a great group, and we love them all. (I have a special place in my heart for Anne.))
Before that, we kept our door unlocked. Anne and I had a few discussions, but it never seemed to register. When she came over, she walked in. One day I was napping, so she came in the bedroom, shook me and said, "Linda, are you awake?" When I didn't answer, she said, "Linda, are you dead?"
Another time, I was taking a shower and I hear, "Linda is that you in the shower?" I said yes, so she sat down on the toilet seat and started talking." I've always wondered what would have happened if it was Mike in the shower.
The episode that ended up with us locking our door was when Mike, wearing nothing but his briefs, was watching sports on tv in the living room when she walked in. She said, "Hi!" Sat down. And started talking. Mike, who was holding a couple of pillows on his lap by then, finally asked, "Anne, would you mind closing your eyes for a few minutes so I can get into the bedroom and put some clothes on." She said, "Oh, of course I wouldn't mind" and closed her eyes until Mike went back in the living room, dressed, and told her she could open her eyes now. So then, she started talking again.
After that, we started locking the door. I thought about giving all of our neighbors except Anne a key to our apartment, but that would confuse her and break her heart. So now, two neighbors have keys to our apt, and we always keep it locked. Anne is not either of the two who have keys.
We lead in interesting life.
Linda

better a good neighbour nextdoor than a friend living far-away ( a dutch saying !) lovely fractal ( and a bit hypnotic indeed, so sleep, sleeeeep sleeeeeeeeep !)

Wonderful design/structure and depth. I love the yummy colors, textured back and dreamy mood! Beautiful, excellent work. I'm glad you included "the rest of the story." My goodness, I can feel for Anne being lonely, but I would be absolutely freaked out if someone- anyone- came into my house unannounced. I have this pivacy thing that I know I take to an extreme, but YIKES. I hope you can give a key to a trusted friend/neighbor in the complex to use only in case of an emergency. Chances are Anne won't find out, and someone will have access if there is an emergency.

Wonderful fractal work. For some reason it reminds me of a beautiful snowy night. I loved you story. LOL I can not imagine the thought process that would go thru someone's mind to ever say the words "Are you dead?" lol I guess that is the one question a person can never honestly answer yes to, so why bother asking it.

Rofl. What a story. Your door must have gotten very confused ;-D The image looks a bit wintery to me. Probably because of the colour.

I just love the colors you are using these days! Good heavens! I don't know what I'd do if I had a neighbor like that!

Wow, what a story! Maybe you can make a doorhanger like in the hotels... do not disturb! Like Linda Mc, I have privacy issues and always keep my doors locked. You are such a good neighbor to befriend such a lonely soul. I love this image! The textured background is lovely and the harmonies of shape overlaying it are just a real delight.

A beautiful fractal with great lighting and depth to it. I'm chuckling over how embarraced Mike would have felt when in reality it probably wouldn't have worried Anne at all. You have an interesting life. Don't blame you locking your doors though, you need your privacy.

Beautiful image although I'm not sure how I feel about the dart towards the upper center although it does seem to provide a starting point. It started me thinking though about a photography course I took years ago when the instructor talked, in evaluating images, about how the image directs the eye. I think that's probably a good thing but not such a good thing if it leads to the viewer thinking about how their eyes are being directed. I compare it to watching a performance. If I'm thinking about how great the acting is, perhaps the actor has over acted a bit. My final thought, perhaps it's better for me to forgo why and just accept the emotional response. Bob

In Holland there's also another expression than the one Juliette mentioned: "Some people have a plate in front of their head". I belief that's the case with Anne. A good solution is always difficult. Nice fractal work, Linda.

Shining work.

Very funny. Some people just don't have any sense. I wonder what her reaction would have been to come in and find you or Mike completely starkers...or otherwise engaged. Jeez, if you'd been on the pot instead of in the shower, I wonder if she would have come in an planted herself on the edge of the tub to talk? It's a lovely, hypnotic image, but to tell you the truth, I'm distracted thinking about all the possible situations for your neighbor to get in to. I wonder whose house she's wandering through right now?
