Description

Tunde is suffering in 44C weather Down Under, and wanted a bit of rain and wind. (That's about 111.2F) This photograph was taken last year in the Hoh Rain Forest. The Hoh gets 140 to 170 inches of rain a year. That's 12 to 14 feet, or just over three meters. It isn't warm rain. It's chilly. Cold. Goose-bump producing. There's often mist, fog, dense clouds, and of course ... a LOT of rain. I just checked the weather report for that area, and right now it's 44F. (That's about 6.6C.) So, my dear friend, this photograph is for you, in the hopes that you will feel a little cooler when you look at it. This is chilly, rainy, drippy, wet, and cold. The humidity is probably about 90%, which means you would get chilled to the bone if you stayed there for very long without a jacket. I wish for you only cool, comfortable, temperate things, Tunde. I hope this helps!

Of the two I should prefer your rain forest, but 12 feet of rain seems a tad EXTREME!

Ya know, this is a brilliant shot. I love the greenery, the sense of peace, and the vague impression that there are Rusalki in that water! Or maybe not. But who knows. Anyway, I love this. It's so serene and restful, and well...there's something about ANY rainforest that just appeals to me. I think it's the lushness and the wetness (good for woodlice, you know) and the overall sense of peace. This is one of the most appealing, gentle images I've had the pleasure to enjoy. I love it! 12 inches of rain eh? Well, at least one doesn't have to shovel it like 12 inches of snow!

This is such a beautiful foto--full of soft, dreamy colors, and yes, a sense of coolness that should help Tunde a bit.
