Description
All hail Princess Darla, Duchess of Eastern Mudhole, Marchioness of the Carpet, and Heir to the Sofa!
A public service announcement:
The Dog Whisperer is a terrible show that teaches techniques which will really screw up your dog. If you're the least bit interested in training a dog (or any animal really) in a humane and VERY effective way, that does not rely on inflicting pain or choking an animal, check out this video of a vet counter-conditioning a dog with a very bad biting problem. Does she choke him? Does she slap him? Does she shake him by the back of the neck or flip him onto his back or yell at him? None of those things are necessary even with animals that have really serious behavior problems.
Also check out this introduction video on Clicker Training for a slightly different approach that is also very effective and humane. I'm working with clicker training with Darla and she is turning out to be AMAZINGLY SMART, and generally still having a ball with her.
She's put on some weight (up to around 10 pounds now) and her coat is growing back out nicely etc etc. blah blah blah I love my dog. All my friends and family are sick of hearing my blab about my dog. Sorry.
snapped with the same crappy Kodak EasyShare camera, a little postwork (redeye and whatever I did to bring out this "old picture" look, I don't remember what).

She is so very very adorable! and your affection for her so very very touching! I wish I could have a dog, but it isnt possible at least at the moment. If I manage to get one - I'll come back for your advice about training. Seems to defeat the purpose of having a dog if you're cruel to it, so I'd go for the methods you recommend for sure. Awaiting further documentation of Darla's adventures:)

Totally agree with you clicker training is the way to go...it did'nt work 100$ on my mate here (See avatar) but he;s a Samoyed, and anything over 5% is pretty good with them.
