Quiver on the banks of a fall by busi2ness
Open full image in new tabDescription
Something endemic to Africa as far as I know: The Quiver tree (Kokerboom), apparently the San people used the trunk to make their quivers from. These trees are estimated at 150 years old, are slow growers and only occur in arid country. Enough boring facts!
I am still waiting for "model permission" to upload more fun uploads than trees. Watch this space, I may be lucky.

Excellent capture. I love the angle and the contrast between the dark skies and the pretty vivid/cheerful tree. Very nice job :)

What a beautiful tree with such interesting bark. And thank you for including the interesting facts about it. I love pictures of trees so I will never tire of tree pictures.

Oh yes Rocserum, very well spotted! I think they are alike in many respects. :)

What a fantastic use of tilt! That isn't something I generally go for, but this is just right. Land, blue sky, bright and dark clouds ... the layers give your tree a solid, yet exciting background. The tree itself is glorious! This is a study in angles, and you've done a fabulous job with it. Outstanding image!

Cool view and subject!

Thats cool! You know, 50 years ago people could walk around on land all over the world. Now everything is posted, keep out. Like that tree, if a native cut it down to make a quiver, people would freak out! haha

Rocserum is close but not quite there, the Joshua is a Yucca but this is an Aloe and a big beast at that, I grow some of the tree Aloes on my nursery in the UK but none are anywhere near that size thank goodness, Its a great shot though thanks for showing it.

Agree with Aunkietk on the tilt working well. Good eye, Piet. The dramatic sky helps.
