Description

A Trachylepis capensis (Cape skink) enjoying the sun. When they become frightened they have the ability to pop their tail off and it will continue to wiggle and distract their predator while they run away. This one had used this mechanism and tail was only a stump (behind the leaves). When I tried for a better angle for the shot, it ran and hid. They do have the ability to re-grow their tails. Relaxed! Clive
