What I Like About You by KatesFriend

One more posting for Valentine's Day, I'm such a romantic. This Vue rendering is a kind of sequel to 'Ah! Bach' which I posted just over a month ago. Many people responded so positively to that rendering that I wanted to update the thread a little. My love may have oft been unrequited in youth (don't worry, not anymore), but I didn't want this story to end that way.
Some Technical Details
For this rendering, I played more with Vue's atmospheres. Vue lets you copy the atmosphere aspect of a rendering for use in other projects. Thus, I copied an atmosphere from one of the sample renderings which comes with Vue, called 'Arbor', and applied it to the environment I created for 'Ah! Bach'. 'Arbor''s atmosphere uses Spectral Model lighting as opposed to the Standard model which I've used up until now. But, I had to make a few changes to the 'Arbor' look. I switched lighting from Global Radiosity to Ambient Occlusion. Global Radiosity, as lovely as it is, has a tendency to make skin glow in a rather unnatural manner. Not very romantic, though may be useful for when I do another rendering for 'The Invaders'. In addition, I added more Ambient lighting and light glow than used in 'Arbor'. 'Arbor' is set in the early evening not the late afternoon. I also adjusted the Sun's pitch and azimuth to get the faces illuminated. The final outcome is not quite what I was working for but I liked it anyways. As this is a close up, I also worked more on the girl's eyes. Though I loaded the characters from Poser, Vue still does not translate the Poser shaders reliably. This is especially true when texture shading is very complex. So, I added stronger hi-lights and some subtle (5%) reflection to the girl's corneas. For any character to appear realistic, the eyes must seem alive. Curious how such a small part of the face can be so important. Enjoy. And give someone you love a great big kiss.

I love this .... I also enjoyed reading your Vue techniques. Wonderful. I must say I've experimented in must the same way, but not with such stunning results. Bravo.
