Description

Greetings everyone. I wanted to take a moment to thank PJ (aka. MrsLubner) for including my recent photo and political tirade 'Stick It To Rob Ford, Ride The Streetcar' into her Sticky Photography Forum - Week 10 of 2011. As surprised as I was for the recognition, this honour was awarded to me even after PJ was compelled to check my posting for bad language. I have to admit, she was right. Still, in gratitude, I thought that I would dedicate this new (albeit Poser) posting to her. My thanks PJ and I will work to add more photography to my gallery. I suppose that I should swear more often. Many renderings which I develop occur rather organically. That is, I start tinkering with some new prop or character or, in this case, lighting effects and see how things work out. This rendering relies heavily on diffuse white lighting rather than infinite 'sun' lights mixed with soft IBL lighting. Shadows are generated through the use of strong ambient occlusion nodes on all the relevant textures. The nice thing about building your renderings in this manner is that you can more selectively dictate shadow strength on various objects. Thus skin and hair (aka. the living body) can be allowed to appear brighter and more radiant than the cloths the character may wear. I used the same inspiration for the cross in the background. It's such a shame that I'm not a practicing Christian. OH! By the way, Happy Lent! As with all my renderings born of experimentation, I had trouble naming this piece. The working title was 'Seriously Dude, I Am Totally Gonna Pop', though 'Boxers Or Briefs?' was also in the running. But, as serendipity would have it, I caught Dusty Springfield's youthful classic on my car radio yesterday and it just seemed to fit the mood. Though admittedly it does not reflect the upshot, refrain or climax of the ballad. But they say, "your body is your temple". Or was it, "who's your Daddy?". Enjoy my friends.

Very nice work on this dedication Clayton, and it seems you captivated the hearts of many with your recent tirade. If you ask me we all need to let go now again as it feels good to vent and someone needs to keep the crooked politicians on their toes.

Nice use of ambient occlusion, though I still prefer in such situations to add a soft "sun" infinite, even if I turn the shadow strength way down.
