Description

Just found some free time after a brief spell in the US, taking in the sights of the snowy and wintry East Coast. So, a belated start to 2011 with a brief fantasy render, before having to move back onto other work again. My ongoing thanks to all who view and support my work despite the recent infrequency of posts. A vivid work, with your usual keen attention to detail. The hair/lighting effect is quite compelling, the splatters add a dimension of believability so often lacking in fantasy-themed images. One can't help but wonder what sort of creature she's just tangled with that bleeds green. All-in-all, a very well-composed image. Oh, I do love the fact that you've provided a link to that splatter-brush tutorial, brushes and the freebie links... thank you, Deane!

very impressive lighting and shading, great hair, and a striking composition. the only thing that seems a bit out of place is her soft and somewhat unfocused expression. the sword and green blood are a nice touch, and i really like the fires in the background. all in all, a very well done image.

Nice composition Deane. The curious green blood on her blade is a nice touch. It appears fresh, perhaps she has just driven off her enemy. Perha[s not an animal but a plant. Interesting.
