Perhaps Hawke was the most concerned of all, not really for the image of himself as a hulking Hobgoblin, but for the memories it elicited of the way he used to be, brutish and overly cruel. If the transformation had tapped into part of his soul, or perhaps some hidden subconscious desire, it was even more disturbing. But the blue-gray skin, the elongated skull and the distorted facial features didn’t really bother him that much. The horrid black skull amulet hanging about his neck, despite Lady Ann’s assurances that it was still his cross and still functioned as such, did. Resisting the temptation to have his sword and axe appear to be Bloodswords, he settled for Khangan chain armor instead. Not surprisingly, it was no heavier than his greatcoat. His sword became a nasty, serrated thing with a hidden backblade in the pommel, appropriate for a Hobgoblin bountyhunter who specialized in tracking down errant rivvil and upstart demon slaves.
