I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

A city can be spoiled by one obnoxious guy...let's turn him in to the Chamber of Commerce:) You should have said, "Do you know who I am?" Handsome view.

This is really gorgeous! The really nice, peach-ish/salmon-ish sunset colors are really amazingly warm and comfy. Nice contrast to the blue, because it's so crisp and clean, not chilly or cold, just crisp. And then to top it off, you've got a really super composition going here...I love that tower in the distance with the statue on top; it makes me wanna get up close just to see who that guy is up there. I love the colors especially, though, especially the nice pastel-ish tones of the building and the windows. Yeah, this rocks. And rude waiters blowing their tips is one of those things that's almost amusing...why be rude when your livelihood depends on tips? Sounds like you weren't exactly dealing with the brain trust on that evening.

Oh no, a fresh waiter and a stale doughnut. He's lucky, considering the current economic climate, that he even has a job. That aside, this is one captivating photo, Carin, akin to an oil painting, and offering a lovely ambiance.

Very nice. And I have experienced some of that rudeness as well when I visited LA. Can't even remember how many times some shopkeeper or desk clerk turned rude and obnoxious when they heard my non american accent. It was a huge dissapointment as I have never had any real issues with americans prior to being so badly mistreated there!!!. However I do remember one really nice Bus Driver, 1 nice takeaway food shop owner and one (paid to be nice) guide for priority ticket holders at Universal Studio's who weren't at all phased by me not being american so from that and from here I know there are still some good ones left :).

Excellent capture of the beautiful mountains. Utah has some spectacular sights. Lots of people call it 'God's Country'. I rarely encounter rudeness like that but when it happens I will usually respond by saying, "Sorry you're having such a bad day." They are always surprised and sometimes apologize. Your waiter may just be a miserable human being. Maybe he was in pain over something. You never know.

What gorgeous colors!! Too bad about the rude waiter, wonder how he keeps his job?

What a gorgeous image! I've never been anywhere in SLC except for the airport, so this is a view I've never seen. Chip got me wondering about the statue. That's the Salt Lake City and County Building (aka the City-County Building) and the statue is Columbia, which is the female personification of the U.S. (according to what I found on line). The building is an interesting bit of SLC's history!

Outstanding capture Carin.Maybe the best to do is like wysiwig said.Respond by saying sorry you are having such a bad day.
Katraz
It was worth the bad weather day just for that light, and good for you not tipping that waiter.

SLC is an amazing town (where some people can be rude).
