UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

I do it because I am driven to freeze these little moments in time, which is always too shot, so I can look at them more carefully to see more, and also to show others what I see. Excellent question and I also see a lot in your shot! I am also somewhat driven to see other people's photos and I could stand at the end of a photo print machine for an hour anytime just watching prints coming out.

I want to tell a story with my photgraphs for the audience. Thats why a worked as a newsphotographer and I loved it.

Amazing shot of the cockpit before I forget! My reasons for photography are vast, but mainly because I LOVE the medium and the excitement of the shoot! There is not much else that is as thrilling as getting "the perfect shot".... And then the arty postwork and learning new techniques... etc.etc. Great questions Bill!

I just point & shoot & hope for the best, then put on comp & think, how did I get that :o) I am sure I couldn't take a pic of a cockpit of a plane & make it look as good as yours :o)

Photographs are a recorded, visual and primal "footprint" of where we have been. To remind us of it when we cannot remember, and to share with others who have a like interest or shared passion (for the subject be it art, photography, aircraft, girls, cars etc).

All above but originaly I strated to take picture to preserve the past for the future. I always joking with it...."when I will be 90yr old hope still able to see a picture (click on the mouse) and browse my file looking back on the good time, where I been and what occupied my mind. This is a fabulous angle and to see the 'interior' is a great.

Dang, Bill, you want me to write a book here, don't cha? LOL! I don't know - I'd have to say all the reasons you listed, and about a million more.... And that goes for my art as well as my photography... The world through Rod's eyes - or mind (what's left of it). I have this constant need to create; it's like a drug. It's MY drug of choice. And it makes no difference if I have a camera in my hand, or a mouse/Wacom stylus. Now, you've got my thoughts flowing - I may just have to sit down and write a little essay... :-D Excellent photo of the 'front office' as well!

We all have opinions and they are varied and interesting - to me (still a novice at it) it will always be an extension of my eyes, mind & mood at the time of capture, not to mention light-play and the atmospherics ... BTW I love the reflections of the corrugated, galvanised steel, BB

Well young Bill.. This is a brilliant shot, with great postwork, as I know the difficulties with reflections off aircraft canopies! lol Myself, I take a photo for a record of the moment, the place, an event.. Later, I may put it through photo shop.. I rarely go out with the express desire to try a 'technique'.. But that's me! LOL Great work mate! Back in 3 days.. Rob
