Description

Rarely was the messenger ship seen, and never before during daylight hours - and the messenger herself standing in the prow gave the sighting even greater significance... Something a little less weird than my previous offering for my 200th, in just under 3 years. Vue 9 Infinite, signature in Photoshop CS5. Craig thumb_2174687.jpg

A ray-filled vision, with beautiful natural detail, and some wonderful choices that are wholly unexpected. The light literally cuts open the scene, cutting swaths into the forest and even across that massive rock isle (near-left). Again, your atmosphere & light overtake us, and make the appearance of the messenger less 'heralded' & more a mysterious & blessed 'presence'. It whispers. Your cloud & water work is excellent as always, as is your foliage, etc. And the other surprise---in addition to the mystical appearance of the messenger & co---is that rock isle: how wonderfully it builds upon itself, getting blanketed in thick trees, a wonderful piece of imagination in an already imaginative scene. I know nothing of 3D, but whatever you have to do to make light fall in layers & curtains & veils, you do with mastery, to my eye. And as I say, I very much like the way the messenger appears softly rather than 'loudly'. (Without any religious connotations, I think of a passage from the Isaiah-poet---ie. from the Hebrew Book of Isaiah---"how beautiful upon the mountain are the feet of the messenger who cries out peace..." That's fairly literal; and the poet---again, sans religious connotations---is evoking a messenger not as tumultuous event, but as a gentle, almost imperceptible 'presence', whose essence is nonetheless profound & bathed in light.) Beautiful work all around.
