I am an environmental scientist. A large part of my career has been dedicated to scientific research into the structure of ecosystems and factors that affect them. Quite early on, it became apparent that certain mathematical iterative principles formed geometries that coincided exactly with those found in natural ecosystems. And by ecosystems, I do not mean just plants and animals. The same principles also apply to quantum physics, geology, meteorology and on up to the formation of galaxies. These relationships were championed most publicly by the brilliant mathematician Benoît Mandelbrot, the founder of fractal geometry.
To my mind, the structure of natural ecosystems through application of these iterative processes revealed not only the genius and subtlety of nature but also its incomparable beauty. Â

So beautiful you show us this Henbane. Great creation, Stan! Really like standing in a meadow, to watch and be there between them. I don't know if it's the same plant as the By Apple, which we have in our garden (in summer) and is toxic.

Marvelous work Stan. There are many plants in nature that have psychoactive properties, but this is one I never heard of. I love your image here, the combination of spirals, flowers and whirlpools in the water is a feast for the eyes. Glenda saw your last post and was very touched and thankful Stan, Thank you again from both of us. She will be home tomorrow so will be able to start catching up on some of the folks she owes thanks to.

What beautiful flowers you found in this lovely meadow and even though they are toxic I reckon I would love to grow some as they are so pretty with their bright colours and lovely shape. It looks as though they increase by those delicate looking tendrils that reach out from each plant. Well worth getting up early to find these beauties.
