I am an environmental scientist. A large part of my career has been dedicated to scientific research into the structure of ecosystems and factors that affect them. Quite early on, it became apparent that certain mathematical iterative principles formed geometries that coincided exactly with those found in natural ecosystems. And by ecosystems, I do not mean just plants and animals. The same principles also apply to quantum physics, geology, meteorology and on up to the formation of galaxies. These relationships were championed most publicly by the brilliant mathematician Benoît Mandelbrot, the founder of fractal geometry.
To my mind, the structure of natural ecosystems through application of these iterative processes revealed not only the genius and subtlety of nature but also its incomparable beauty. Â

This is an outstanding result Stan! Zoom really is required to appreciate much of it's complexity. Your abilty to stretch UF into areas never encountered before is a mark of your scientific background, always seeking out new and untried things. This type of wonder and willingness to try and sometimes fail is the same minset that has helped every major invention that has happened in our world. Research in medicine follows simular principles, and if there was not people willing to try these things we would still have people being consumed by smallpox and polio. Unfortunatly as time progresses and both those horrible illnesses are pushed into the memory of only the oldest folks still alive, many young parents are no longer willing to get new babies vaccinated, there are marked increases in the incidence of polio now again, and those poor children are doomed to a short life of serious pain and disability, just because their parents were dooped by some holywood floozy that claims vaccines are bad for them. Sorry for the rant Stan, and thank you again for all the support over the past few days. As soon as i hit submit on this, I will be off to the hospital to collect Glenda and bring her back where she belongs.

Wow I love this effect you have achieved here. It looks as if you stayed up all night with your embroidery needle to sew this beautiful piece. A splendid unique fractal, excellent work.
