Description
The Samoa Peninsula juts out nine and one-half miles into Humboldt Bay and forms a barrier between it and the Pacific Ocean. Located on that peninsula is a town called Samoa. For over 100 years Samoa was a company town dedicated to the lumber industry. For most of that time access to the peninsula from Eureka was by a round about route north to Arcata and then south down the peninsula. The alternative was by ferry boat. In 1971 the Samoa Bridge was built to span the two miles across Humboldt Bay.

Cool capture, Mark Looks like a fun drive and I bet there's no place to pull off and take pictures from the bridge

Great POV. It does feel like a never ending bridge. A marvel of engineering. It looks quite desolate. I love this shot! Well done.

That's the way it was in south Louisiana before they built the highway over the swamp. It took forever to get anywhere. Though there weren't any ferry boats. There is a family story of us all dressed up in Easter finery riding on those bumpy back roads. It didn't end well. Beautiful image! I love the POV and color. The heavy overcast works wonderfully. The colors are very rich.
