Description
By the end of WWII the above picture could possibly have happened. The Horton brothers had actually built an aircraft like the one above. Had the war lasted another couple of years there is no doubt that larger versions of this machine would have been regularly bombing the US Eastern seaboard. Steady development of flying wings had almost arrived at the stage where they could have been used in battle. Then the relentless attrition of the raw material and fuel supplies forced an end to the proceedings. That's it, folks, today's history lesson over. Ho, hum.

Horton 229 is interesting. I read that only 3 were made & the USA hauled one home. Purely coincidental, the 9 UFOs seen over Mt Raineer in 1947 by a local fella who is now well known, exactly matched the HO229 configuration. also ... last month 3 flew over my home at under 4500 feet going waaay fast, overhead to past horizon in 3 seconds, and those weren't B2s. Thanks for sharing that oustanding rendendition.

I loved the whole flying wing concept. Excellent image!

And we're all breathing a huge sigh of relief that it didn't happen, too! There were some amazingly brilliant aircraft designers in Germany, and they sure did some brilliant work. Lovely model of those aircraft, too!

So, Horton's Heirs are Whose? Couldn't resist that? The whole alternative history thing is interesting... well, the Nazis may have had great engineers and designers to hand, pity they didn't have proper leaders...

Yes, a few more months of war and it could have been a serious problem for the Allied air forces. Fine render!
