EDO System Class Heavy Battle Carrier
Quite a few years ago I got the idea to try and turn my meagre writing talents toward writing a science fiction novel. I managed to get most of my rough ideas down on paper but for various reasons the idea never became reality. The story featured a huge space going warship called a Battle Carrier which was a cross between a space battle cruiser and a space going aircraft (space fighter) carrier.
Whilst the idea for the novel did not became reality I have finally found the time to create the Battle Carrier in picture form along the other four spacecraft the story would primarily feature.
Shown here today for the first time and for your enjoyment today is the System Class Heavy Battle Carrier Excalibur. At nearly one mile in length the Excalibur is the flagship of the Earth Defences Organisation (EDO), Earth Sector, Home Fleet and carries a ship’s crew complement of ten thousand. Excalibur’s hull is coated in four barrel primary and three barrel secondary batteries along with a multitude of anti-spacecraft defence emplacements.
Five of the ten thousand crew are responsible for the ships day to day operations with an additional two thousand five hundred crew assigned to the ships cruiser squadron which is housed within the ship’s hull on its huge Hanger Deck. The squadron is made up of fourteen City Class fast attack cruisers and one Capital Class cruiser which is intended to act as a fast mobile communications and control vehicle during any actions which take place which involve deployment of either the Battle Carrier’s cruisers, it’s space fighter squadron’s or both.
The remaining two thousand five hundred ships crew make up the complement of the ships internally based space fighter contingent which is made up of six, fifteen ship squadrons of Predator Class space attack fighters.
Whilst this is not an exact copy of what I envisaged for the book it is in the spirit of what I wouldn have tried to portray in the story.

As the saying goes "a picture paints a thousand words" and this looks like a hell of a story.I'm kind of hoping what you meant to say was "Whilst the idea for the novel did not become reality...yet".If you had vision to see it and presence of mind to write the broad outline you're half way there. Looks like another brilliant week ahead......
