Description
Every year the cricket team that two of my son's play for gets invited to the Oppenheimer Oval close to where I live. (The grounds are owned and maintained by the Oppenheimers of Anglo American fame!) Yesterday was the yearly match. My eldest, Werner, hit 107 runs from just 64 balls and basically won his team the match. For folks without any knowledge of cricket, this will make little or no sense, but believe me - it is an excellent knock! Here he is walking off the field acknowledging a standing ovation from the spectators. I felt pretty proud!

I know absolutely nothing about cricket, but anyone who receives a standing ovation after playing in a sporting match must have done a spectacular thing! I'm sure it's an excellent knock, except that I don't have any idea what a knock is, either. :P When you start talking cricket, there's no frame of reference. The entire vocabulary is like a foreign language to me! Nonetheless, it's nice to see Werner looking so happy after his performance. (I'll never get used to how tall he is!) This is an excellent image! It's a wonder you could click the shutter and get a sharp image. I would have been jumping around so much the pic would have been a blur! Top notch photo, along with kudos for your son, Werner, after his remarkable scoring feat in cricket, a game I know virtually nothing about, Carin. Cricket to me is an insect that makes repetitive noises at night by rubbing its legs together.
