Description
One last water image. Yes, I know the sails are stiff, but I'm working hard on solving my SSP (Stiff Sail Problem) and someday I may even find a way to de-stiff them.

Hadn't noticed the sails. Was too busy marveling over the waves and the cut of the ocean by the ship. Excellent work...

Beautiful pic! Love the water and the sence of depth in this! Ive read about importing stuff to poser, and use a magnet to bend stuff around, if that should help. Nice work!

Very nicely done...the background and water distract from noticing the sails problem you brought up...I never noticed till you mentioned it..if you solve it ,then you have yourself a 10!

The water both behind the ship and on the cliffs in the distance is fantastic. I'd really like to know how it was done.

Wonderful image. If that water is really done in Bryce then praise be. It looks exactly like a photo. I'd say it was maybe a squashed and smoothed Mordor or Zorch terrain, but there's so much of it! I've tried that method but could never get the detail unless I used around 20 planetary terrains and about 300,000,000 polys, and then it's a bugger getting them to join up! But whatever, it's still a great pic! For billowing sails, grab a full version of Cinema 4D SE v5.2 (it's free). Create a very thin cuboid, subdivide it, then either use distort for wind ripples and / or use the magnet tool to manually do the job. Takes a few seconds. I've just done it on some flags and it works great.

I totally agree with the person above...those are the most realistic waves and water trail I've yet seen rendered! It's a perfect 10 for the water alone...but the whole piece is nice.

the water is amazing !!beautiful work here :)

Very photorealistic. The water and wake of the ship are a work of art in themselves, and the best I've seen anywhere in a Bryce pic. Congratualtions on an excellent image!!

The water is just a lot of terrains... about 100 of them. And thanx for the comments, it helps me learn to do better next time.

would you be willing to do a quick tutorial on how you did those waves and the trail behind the boat and by the rocks. That stuff is hard to do, and I would really like your insight, so I can learn something ;-)

The waves (terrains) have a standard bryce water ripple texture on them. Most of the work was just a lot of tweaking to get the right terrain shapes and proper ripple scale... more of an art than science. The foam trails were painted in Paintshop Pro with a graphics tablet... much easier than doing it with a mouse.

Sails have too much viagra!
