On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Clive is close this belong to the bracket fungi kind. Has so many sub species is not funny. Wonderful capture.

These must be the multi-stack sandwich fungus, often briefly seen in lunchboxes on building sites in the UK. The spores must have somehow got blown across the pond.

Wow, I'm not very knowledgeable about fungi, but they sure look nice. I love that warm rich tan color, it contrasts so nicely with the lush greens of the moss and plants.

I have never seen anything quite like this, what a strange and wonderful find!

Ha... there are over 100,000 types of fungus. Some we eat (called mush rooms. I wonder why?), others give us itchy athletes foot (and worse), others are good for nothing (for us, at least). These are quite unique. But, I don't know what type they are, either. All I can do is agree with beachzz's old pun. Really interesting photo. Any more fun oddities in you nook of the woods? Keep up the good work! :-)

Looks like Chinese lanterns, no that not the name it's just what they look like to me. :D Can't find it in the book, but the book only has 700 of the ones in North America and they say there are 1.4 million different types world wide. Excellent find and capture! :D
jendellas
They are unusual, they look as though they are holding the trunk up!!!

Top notch shot of the mystery growth and environs, Bill. Of all people, I would think durleybeachbum would know the identity of this peculiar variety, Bill. Perhaps the spores hitched a ride on a meteorite on its way to our planet. In that vein, I wonder if fungi have any relation to the Ferengi, of Star Trek notoriety.

These little fungi look wonderful clinging to the underside of this log. A super capture.
