Rob was saying how he has never seen one in the flesh. I'm sorry it isn't flying in the photo mate. This old girl was about to take off, but it was blisteringly hot, I was thirsty and hungry...and nature was calling....blah blah! In short, I missed it!
I reckon the Super Constellation was one of the most stylish aircraft ever built. Any cooler and it would explode!
In her career she was involved in smuggling, war, spraying, freight hauling, fine dining and whisking US Presidents to various parts of the globe, in addition to its duties for the major airlines of the world.
Please zoom as she was quite a reasonable distance away from me at the time too.

Great to see one again. I had many hours on a $3 million simulator for one of these. It was made after one crashed leaving the cockpit mostly intact. They spent a lot of money making it into a top notch simulator. We used it in our electronics program to teach control systems and an airline used it at night for pilot training. What fun!

Only ever seen one civilian version in flight. Late 1970's as I was approaching Harrisburg, so was the plane. Darn near drove off the interstate. Quite a sight!

Nice to finally see one in the flesh1 I've only ever seen them in old movies and like period magazine ads. Handsome plane and a nice shot. It actually feels blisteringly hot looking at it. makes me want a cold beer. Hmmmmmmm....
