“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Yes, good advice for Mark, who could use the sabbatical, but, as for myself, my back condition won't let me go there, or virtually anywhere else for the time being, so I'll have to use my couch for rest.

Ahhhhh. I feel relaxed already. Lovely shot, Bill! Wow - I'd just love to wade across to that rocky flat on the other side.... That water is probably a tad chilly, though!

you know Bill, you told me a while back that when all this was over (ie, the losses), things would change to light in my life. I truly believed you. And now I'm beginning to see the change take place. Somehow your words had the air of Knowing...I so appreciated your sentiment here ("rest awhile"); and the image---which I assume is from the Northwest or the West, as it definitely doesn't look like Kansas or Chicago (if you took this in Chicago, give me the address!!!! like, now, lol!!!!)---has that combination of movement & peace that you capture in a number of your images, and of detail with gentle softness/embrace. It was odd because on that day, while the weather was splendid & radiant where I was, I felt like a cloud of blackness---I could barely get at my feelings at that point, I felt like lead. Like your prediction, this image was a photograph of the future; and now, months later, it feels like it's slowly coming true...It's a pleasure to be back here in your gallery, and when you've reached 1001 images! You know, I'm sure, that my father's house is on a canal, which has smaller waters than this scene, to be sure, but still it has waters. And herons are there, and other birds & lots of other very Florida-ish life. That canal was the first thing I walked to in the days after my father's passing. So this image is in perfect harmony with what i did after my father passed, when the paperwork was falling on top of us & I was trying to make sense of what had just happened. Thank you for looking into my future and for seeing transformation, and for sharing another of your always thoughtful, delicate, balanced and beautiful images. This meant the world to me, and it does all the more now. Many thanks, my friend. It is beautiful & much appreciated.
