Description
Another instalment in my "Warrior Women" series.
Before she heads into a battle that she knows she may not survive, Hitomi takes a moment to feel the sun on her face, to cherish the beauty of the cherry blossoms, and to contemplate their symbolic meaning. She knows they will all fall, eventually. This does not make her sad, for she knows that there is an end to all things that have form. Our lives are like candles in the wind; we live, we die, and in the end only Honor remains. This is the essence of Bushido.
I dedicate this image to the people of Japan. My thoughts are with them 24/7.
This piece was inspired by "A change of heart" by Rowan Crawford, and it's something I have wanted to do for a long time. Please take a moment to look at the full-size version, and feel free to leave a comment if you are so inclined. Thanks for stopping by.

~Fantastic scene...and excellent backstory! A great dedication to the people of Japan!~

Very cool picture. Comparing it to the Rowan Crawford painting it strikes me how much more depth and realism there is in a 3D still.

Sublim composition; perhaps her last moments before plunging in the fires of conflict and she find such a peaceful place to commune with Mother Nature, filling her heart and spirit with beauty and serenity! Bravo!

Wow, I love the many contrasts here: Very feminine character in soldier's clothing, metal against blossom, light sky v. dark future etc. Wonderful image and a wonderful dedication.

Well the source of inspiration is quite clear now that you have pointed it out. Although Crawford's painting did not explore the nature of being as you have so deftly done here.
