Description

The Hoshikaze 2250 universe is a space-opera setting with some cyber and hard-science inside. This history of the future is developped by the Association of the same name. We are at any point in time between 4 and 10 people to work on this universe. We maintain a wiki encyclopedia on our site, edit a yearly short stories book and have a Role-Playing-Game in the making for 2013. The T'Kalt is a former patrol craft from the K'Rinn Council, the state that rules nearly the whole K'Rinn species. The ship's warp drive was housed in the main hull, just aft of the crew compartment. Its 4 verniers clusters well apart from the warp drive gave it good maneuverability. The prototype's original payload, depicted here, consisted of a anti-ship multi-missile launcher and a mass driver firing clouds of ballistic flechettes. A derivative of the T'Kalt played a prominent role as an automated probe in the first contact between the K'Rinn and Rithai species. During the 1st Fringe Wars, all existing T'Kalt variants were highly successful and even in the 2nd Fringe War, despite becoming obsolete, they served as a mainstay of k'rinn forces. Many versions were devised and produced, among them long-range scouts, light cargo ships and fighter drones carriers. There were k'rinned and drone versions, as K'Rinns always tend to use AIs in their military, given the utter pacifism built into regular k'rinn minds and the small number of the uninhibited Defenders. As the war ended and the Community of Spacefaring Species was built with the K'Rinns playing a major role in it, their crafts became well-known in the rith and human spheres. The T'Kalt earned a good reputation as a small cargo ship, enduring and forgiving. A direct concurrent to the Caravelle, with nearly the same cargo capacity, it wasn't able to planetfall but was a little faster and quite cheaper to operate. In 2250, the T'Kalt has been discontinued from production, but there are still many variants of this vessel that ply the routes between the stars. These images were done using the excellent DoGA L3 package and composition was made with GIMP.

Fascinating ship design, and nicely executed here. Good backstory for this, definitely gives a good sense of the context and how these were used. Excellent work!

Hi all, Thanks for your comments ^-^ I hope I'll be able to better render the ships, because I'm still a newbie in 3D, still badly limited by my own skills ! I've just been drafting ships for the Hoshikaze 2250 universe for a long time. At a moment, I've wanted to expose them somehow. So I rendered some views of a few ships and made a patchwork out of them ^-^ Indeed the background is quite developped, as the ships integrate into a full-fledged history covering 9 sentient species. Consistency is one of our main goals, because the background is quite complexe and contributed by some 10 different authors ! Btw : anyone knows how to render isometric under DoGA ? Or would it be better to use another renderer ? Remember I'm a 3D-noob ^-^ @+ Benoît 'Mutos' ROBIN Hoshikaze 2250 Project http://hoshikaze.net

Hi wolfenshire, So take a tour of our videogame in project. It's named "Stars of Call", built as a TC of the excellent open-source game "NAEV". It's an Elite-like in 2D, and you can fly many of these ships. It's showcased on SourceForge, I don't know if I have the right to post a link here, but with all these elements, you should be able to find it easily ^-^ It's currently at Alpha stage, so don't expect perfect balance or completeness of the universe, but many things are already in place and, thanks to using NAEV as an engine, the full gameplay is functional !
