Description

Before you stone me for the crappy technical quality of this image, please keep in mind that it was shot hand held with a 50mm lens whose autofocus was broken... Now, this was shot from the top of the Mandalay Bay Hotel looking up the strip in Las Vegas. Those of you who know the city will recognize some well known hotels like the Luxor, Excalibur, MGM Grand, New York New York etc. In the distance you can see the Stratosphere. Incidently, the light on top of the Luxor (black pyramid hotel in the foreground) shining up is visible from space. I agree with every one nothing wrong with the quality of this night capture. Pretoria is a nightmare for me. I just cant imagine how i could cope in such a busy city as you have captured on camera at night time.

I gotta say Las Vegas is fun to visit but god I'd hate to live there! I love the light on the Luxor. The prime lens would have been fine and shooting an SLR in manual is the way to go! At night without a tripod though, you have done well to get what you got! Maybe lengthening the exposure and sitting the camera on the pile of money ya won!!!!!!!

What's this? I think this handheld shot of Sin City came out extremely well, considering the adverse conditions under which it was taken. All that glitz and glamour on display, and I marvel at all the lights, neon and otherwise, just sucking up tons of electricity, probably all generated from Hoover Dam, one of beachzz's favorite stomping grounds.
