Description

I didn't see much wildlife on my visit to the Arcata Marsh outside Eureka. A few egrets and pelicans too far away for a decent shot and some ducks. The dragonflies, as usual, were playing games with me. They would fly up to me and as soon as I lifted my camera they would fly away. I did find this hairy little fellow trying to cross from one side of the trail to the other. It was wide open to the birds so I hung around until it had gained the relative safety of the grass. I looked it up and it is a Spotted Tussock Moth caterpillar.

Great capture , Mark ! Very nice shot ! Where you have to look for dragonflies alight, then wait for return: usually within a few seconds! And when he looks at you, calmly takes photos, does not move (usually arrive in about 5cm).
