Description

Yet another trip to the vault... I think this image dates back to 2008. I remember that I was originally going to add a character in the foreground, then when I abandoned that idea, I was unhappy with the way the image was framed. Finally, when I dusted off the image, I decided on a simple crop to eliminate some of the houses in the foreground, which I had always found distracting. No more fiddling, it's time to go to sleep... The lighting is perfect. Gorgeous scene! I like it that the houses aren't fully in the frame ... it lends a sense of isolation that feels safe and warm. I'm quite sure if I walked among those buildings I would see firelight, and someone having stew for dinner. (Vegetarian stew, of course.) :P Lovely!

Night scenes are always problematic to get the right balance so one can see all there is to see. You've done a Splendid Job on the Balance!...(smiles)...

well your elves have certainly gotten good representations in your gallery, all the better for us. I'm going to have to stop here for tonight as it's another long session (I think over an hour, lol...be complimented! your gallery engages me everytime!), so I'll end with this for now. This has a positively silken sky, your signature atmosphere, your wonderful way with light in dark settings, and your signature mystery as well as the detail you manage to bring out even in night scenes. (Maybe as a scientist you learned, long ago just how laden night is...) The houses upfront only partially stand out, but when we 'discover' them: What beauties. Fine blue lights and angles to their roofs. Your mix of greens & various blues throughout the trees is luscious. Your contours are gentle and musical (some created by your light across the treetops). And your sky is to die for. I wanna get that sky. Is it for sale? Can it be sent in a .jpg? I don't mean the 'image': I mean the actual sky. You're a scientist, figure out a way to compress, ohhhhhhhh, 2, 3 billion light years worth of cosmos---without losing that beautiful sheen, esp in the upper right side---put it in a .zip file and send it. (I'm told they've already zipped some super-novas, how hard could this be???) Not only is the cloud area beautiful, but I see that orb peeking through! And you've painted the horizon with the lighter sky as well. Beautiful work Craig! I hope all is going splendidly in your life, and I'll be back for more! I've missed a lot, and it's a pleasure to be back here again!
