Description
In tonight's picture we see two damsels in the classic pairing, where they form a heart more or less regular from the point of support. They will have felt the beneficial influence of moonlight? I must say that I have seen many couples, a couple of days have appeared in dozens.
Dragonflies and Damsels
All insects commonly known as dragonflies belong to the order of "Odonata"from the greek means "toothed jaws. "
There are two main groups: the Anisotteri, or true dragonflies, and Zigotteri or "maids"
They differ from cutlery because the true dragonflies hold their wings open and horizontal and vertical take the bridesmaids and closed above the body. They both have a long body, large eyes, short antennae and two pairs of transparent wings, all feed on insects which they capture in the air.
Are biologically related to the aquatic environment near which they spend their lives, the juvenile forms (nymphs) live in water and in fact are very good predators hunting mainly insects and tadpoles.
When larvae are mature (their development can take up to 5 years) is the metamorphosis: the nymph climbs out of the water where, in a few days, will develop an adult insect.
Dragonflies can flap their wings 20 times per second,
are able to instantly stop, hover and fly backwards properties for short distances.
