Sorry for the corny title - just couldn't resist. My name is Dennis and I just got back into photography after two-decade layoff. I started off in 35mm in 1973 and lugged a couple of bags of gear, cameras, lenses, etc around the world during a 22 year Navy career. I got out of that habit after kids came along and cribs, diaper bags and car seats elbowed out camera gear for room in the car. Also, while my wife was remarkably patient with my stopping and waiting for just the right lighting, dirty-diapered kids were less so.
I got back into photography after my wife "forced" me to buy a DSLR in December of 2008. We'd gone to a camera store to buy a point and shoot for her to use in her antiques and collectibles business and she caught me looking at a couple of DSLRs in the display case. She suggested I check them out 'just for fun", but, when I tried to give them back to the sales person she asked "Which one do you want?" and refused to leave the store until I chose one.
Sadly, I lost Mrs Sea_Dog to cancer six months later, but fortunately she got to see me revive the passion I once had. My gallery is a lasting tribute to her and our love.

Over the last two and a half years, since learning about Renderosity from a friend, has been a continuous learning and discovery process. The artists here are so amazingly talented and inspirational - and extremely friendly. Seeing their work and reading their comments on mine have allowed me to grow as an artist much faster than I could have on my own.

Auch for the price. In Our South Africa currency that would roughly be near this amount - R 1050000.00. Stunning capture of this beautiful vehicle my friend.Just heard from some co workers here at work that they Blew out an ATM at a garage nearby our work. We heard the explosion last night from where we live in our flat. I just wondered what it was. Just imagine the damage and if someone withdrew money at the excect time that the criminals set of the explosion. It scares me. May the Lord protect everybody everywhere in the world here on earth.

150 Grand, huh? Pretty good return for a car that originally cost $ 2,700. Of course $ 2,700 was a lot of money in 1949... I want YOUR youth! You older folks had all the fun! The best cars, the best music, the best standard of living. I'm getting older myself and all I had was the SEVENTIES! Polyester clothes, cheesy music, Ford Country Squire and Pontiac Safari wagons with miles of vinyl "wood" paneling decals stuck to the sides and tailgate. It's just not fair. LOL! Anyway, these are some great shots of one of the icons of the classic age of motoring. Nice post work as well. R.I.P. Mercury.

An absolutely beautiful presentation. I've got to visit that car display one day! Love Corey's comment above...I too grew up in the 50s. Honestly, my high school years must have been the model for "Happy Days":) My first car was a white 1950 Ford convertible...I thought quite highly of myself at the time. Things didn't cost very much and the livin' was easy.
