Description

this is smoke from a huge fire burning by Possum Kingdom lake SW of Ft Worth.Texas is in a drought and no relief in sight.we had rain here last night but the fire area had none Winds as high as 59 mph also carried smoke from large wildfires near Wichita Falls, creating a dense haze across much of the area. More than 30,000 electricity customers were left without power late Friday because of arcing lines and tree branches swaying against the wires. took this from my roof this evening http://www.ktxs.com/news/27548827/detail.html

So all these huge lines of Thunderstorms missed the areas of fire? Geez. Great shot but sad to see. Stay safe!

Superb capture! :) I've been watching it on the news, really amazing how some places can be so dry and burning and others up north are dealing with flooding.

Fire! Something firebugs love to watch. It's much more fun to stomp out. Careful it's breaking out just behind you! Twister is a game with similar moves.

I have relatives in Mineral Wells Texas and I used to live in Bryan College Station in the late 70's.....This is really sad to see such a devastating event in such a beautiful State as Texas!..Hope you fair through this drought and get some badly needed rain..My Aunt said all it takes is one well placed hurricane and it would make a dent in the drought.Though a hurricane is devastating at best sometimes something bad has to happen before any good comes from it.Hope things turn for the better!... Even though the fires are tragic you did take a beautiful capture!...

I've been following the fire story closely - we here in southern California have had our share of huge fires so I understand the scenario you're showing here. Hope you and yours are safe.
