Description

Those of you who have regularly visited this gallery have no doubt witnessed my frustration when attempting to photograph wildlife. They usually run away before I can get a decent shot. My visit to the Arcata Marsh was no different. That does not not mean I have given up. On this trip I carried a secret weapon, a Sony 70-400mm lense. I crept up on this pelican and got an image from about 75 yards away. He never had a chance! Not the best image but I'll keep practicing.

This is an excellent image! I have the same problem a lot of times... that's where the long lens comes in handy. Congrats!!

I love his little Mohican hairstyle - makes him look very regal ... but he is keeping an eye on you - maybe you should try a different after shave lotion, just a suggestion Mark, great effort, BB

Pretty good attempt, I would suggest early mornings or late afternoons they seem to be more active and nicer lol and it will remove the harsh lighting you get in the afternoon. Keep trying, thats part of the challenge. Have you tried butterflies now theres a challenge.

Nicely done! This is great ... I'd be pretty happy with it! I think I've got a couple of ducks and maybe a rabbit in my gallery. I'm with you ... they move around a lot! LOL!

This is a beautiful capture of this lovely big bird. I can relate about not being able to get decent shots of wildlife they always run a mile or fly off when I am trying to get close too. I like how the water has photographed in this shot too.

Sneak up...stop, click...sneak up...stop, click...sneak up...sto..."Oh, bother!" click. And I'm left with 2 images of tiny birds and one of a blur. You got this one excellently. I like the faint yellow shading of his head and his bright eye. Beautiful bird and capture!
