A local scrap yard, one of many here in this industrial city had had a new weigh scale installed to replace the old outdated one. The scale had been put in but now came the decision to build an office in which to use at the scale. Costs were factored in etc and in the end it was decided that the old steamers wheelhouse would as suitable as any for an office. After all the concrete base from the old scale building was still there, the wheelhouse had already taken from the hull and sat empty & dormant, what better use it could be made of it. So they hoisted it up into a large truck, hauled it the 500 odd yards from the water front dock and placed it in front of the scale. Office furniture was was brought in, power plugs were installed and heat was put in and whalla, you have a new office, with a great view of the scrap yard, comfy & warm in winter, cool & breezy in summer.
