Description
The freighter had sat for the better part of 2 years, on the scrap list, destined for some foreign port to be dismantled. She had for the greater part of her existence carried grain and now sat silent, her life at an end.
But life springs eternal & in unexpected places, such as these 2 spiders. They had set up their home on the port side of the ship about 15 or so feet from the forward cabins, set them up on the railings, the perfect place to live.
When the crew had signed off they had cleaned the ship up, but being human they had not done a thorough job. Small pockets of grain were left on the decks to be blown around and left to the elements. The rain would come and soak the left over grain swelling it making it break open, seagulls would come, eat the grain and do what gulls do best, poop. From that other insects would come, flies and bugs to feed on the grain and poop, creating more life, growing & spreading as life does no matter where or how.
The spiders came, set up the webs in a ideal location, stretched between 2 railings, open to the elements, able to catch the fair breezes off the water and a excellent invitation to any and all flying insects that venture down to the harbor to feast on grain, spoiled or other wise and seagull poop a veritable nesting place for other forms of life that once hatched would provide for the spiders a succulent meal.
Life was good for the spiders and their location, gave them much bounty and a steady diet of bugs of all stripes who ventured down to the sea in search of food. Does life if your a spider get any better than this???.................thanks for the peek
