Description

Concept created 5/26/05, employing Bryce, Poser and Photoshop. Better viewed full size. The same POV and model as in my 4/15/11 USS Kidd #1 posting, but shown at night in an abstract environment. The USS Kidd (DD-661), a Fletcher-class destroyer, was the first ship of the United States Navy to be named for Rear Admiral Isaac C. Kidd, who died on the bridge of his flagship USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Admiral Kidd was the first US Navy flag officer to die during World War II. The ship not only served with distinction in WWII, but also during the Korean conflict. More detailed information can be found in my original USS Kidd posting. Model made by BeyondVR and is available in the Marketplace and for free at DAZ. Auf wiedersehen, thankx for popping in, and for any and all favs and complimentary comments.

There are so many more I want to do in your gallery now, but as you can see, I try to do 3 or 4 in a sitting. I wanted to get at least one 3D piece, since you've been posting them this year & I've not commented on one yet (I'm pretty sure). I don't pick this because the others aren't fine as well, but because I'm in the neighborhood (ie, april) and I really liked it. I saw the original from which this came, and I like the color you added, and the interaction of diagonals with the large circle---kind of a silhouetting circle. Nice abstraction added to a very concrete ship. And the horizon nicely intersects the verticals atop the ship. Really, there's a lot of abstraction here, while you're nevertheless loyal to the destroyer itself. 3D is one area I know nothing about, I mean not even a little. I've tried to create a little, and honestly, I never got a smidgeon accomplished. But it made me appreciate the art a lot more, by seeing how hard it is to do well. Whatever you had to do to get everything in this image to interact as it has, including the light & angles on the destroyer, the result is a fine representation of a ship and some highly abstract elements. I like this a lot, and it's thoughtfully put together. Once again, a great pleasure to come to your gallery, and I'll be back for more soon. As you can see, I like doing a few at once rather than one a day (with artists like you) as I get to take you in in more concentrated doses...but I'm barely a 20th of the way. A major variety you present here every day...nice that you started posting your 3D work too.
