It probably seemed convenient at the time to make a living tree into a telephone pole. But now it looks like it could use some pruning.

I don't think that's a tree, but I've seen poison ivy grow on poles like that... Still a neat photo, any way you slice it.

There's a really good spot for train spotting in Wadsworth, IL. Since my timing wasn't the best to catch Amtrak or Canadian Pacific going by (and I didn't feel like waiting a couple hours), I settled for something unique in the local scenery which caught my eye. And yes, those are branches growing back out of a trunk that was pruned bare at one point in time. I'm sure this isn't the only one like this either, lazy people doing stuff that seems convenient can be found anywhere.
